On Wednesday, Nvidia (NVIDIA) announced its financial report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2021. The financial report shows that Nvidia’s second-quarter revenue hit a record of US$3.87 billion, an increase of 50% over the US$2.58 billion in the same period last year, and an increase of 26% from the previous quarter’s US$3.08 billion. %.
Notably, its data center revenue of $1.75 billion was more than double the $655 million it earned in the same period last year, beating analysts' average estimate of $1.71 billion. Meanwhile, Nvidia's longtime main source of revenue, its video game business, brought in $1.65 billion in the quarter.

The financial report shows that NVIDIA has made many achievements in the field of data centers in the last quarter, including jointly launching more than 50 systems equipped with NVIDIA A100 with the world's leading server manufacturers; two-thirds of the top 500 fastest supercomputers in the world are equipped with NVIDIA products; released NVIDIA Mellanox UFM Cyber-AI platform, etc. Also included in the latest MLPerf benchmark, Nvidia broke 16 AI performance records.
In April of this year, Nvidia completed the acquisition of Mellanox for US$7 billion, which is also the largest acquisition completed by Nvidia since its establishment.
"As the world's top cloud service providers and server manufacturers are accelerating the deployment of Nvidia accelerated computing, our new Ampere GPU is advancing at full speed. Cloud data centers need high-speed networks to expand artificial intelligence services, which has driven a surge in Mellanox's business volume." Nvidia division management John Elways said .

The game market is still hot, Nvidia is expected to set a record in the third quarter
John Elway 's said that in addition to the massive increase in game consoles, the COVID-19 pandemic has driven more people to play video games, and games are becoming the world's largest entertainment medium. "We're expecting a very strong second half of gaming, and I think it's quite possibly one of the best gaming seasons ever."
In addition, Nvidia will release the next-generation Ampere-based GPU on September 1. The rumored RTX 3090 graphics card, which uses GDDR6X memory for the first time, is likely to become the star product in the conference.
This means that compared with the second quarter, the proportion of total data center revenue in the third quarter will decrease, and Nvidia will continue to occupy a high ground in the gaming market.
